Those stipends sound right, but the hourly is off, though the real hourly
doesn't look much better. I'm coaching golf now, so my hours aren't what they were when I coached football. I was an assistant and made about 2.5k stipend give or take. During the season I spent on average 25 hours per week at games/practices/film. The season is about 12 weeks long so that's about 400 hours in season. During the off season we had weekly coaches meetings to plan off season and next in season stuff. Those were about 1.5 hours each. Then we had summer workouts in the mornings, about 1.5 hours per day in the summer. We also had 7v7 during the summer a couple of times per week at about 3 hours each. We did a kids camp for a week during the summer, 20 hours total for that. We also have our team camp in the summer which is about 20 hours for the week (with kids, this doesn't count pre practice and post practice meetings). I would guess about 700 hours total in the year with the kids, and another 100 or so without them. Though these hours vary and it's hard to estimate, you can get a good idea. I think it was between 2 and 3 dollars an hour when I calculated it back then. Head coaches and coordinators are spending more time (I was DB or WR most of my 9 year career with JV coordinator responsibilities).

When I look back, I don't think I would do it again. I loved helping guide young men, but my kids are young and most weeks I would put them to bed Wednesday night and not see them until Saturday afternoon. It was rough. If you tried to leave meetings when they were done to get home to your family, you are sometimes viewed as "soft". Not all programs, but there were some.
