Best way to get a kid to work is not to pay for his cell phone and car. Teens don't need that stuff anyway, IMO, so I just tell them I'm not paying for it. That gets my teens motivated pretty quick to get a job, and they end up paying for that stuff as well as way too much junk food. ;-). And now we won't have awkward conversations in college about when we'll stop paying for that stuff because they already are.
