Sometimes his receivers bail him out and make a diving catch (see Chase Roberts vs Utah or many other examples this year). I 100% thought the TD pass vs Ok State was going to be picked and then Lassiter came out of nowhere.

Sometimes the DB's bail him out by dropping (like the DB vs Utah right before the Chase Roberts catch).

Sometimes he just flat misses wide open receivers (like JoJo down the sidelines before the pick).

And sometimes he just throws game deciding picks (like Oklahoma or Kansas or ASU).

It's really hard to win when you just don't know if your QB is going to throw a dart or throw it into the turf or just throw it to the other team.
