Math is tough, so let's demonstrate. ASU scores around 35 ppg at home. OP wants to hold them to 17 points roughly 1/2 of
their normal output. I said they equivalent would be if we scored 60 points..... wait for it....
BYU scores 29 ppg on the road. So if we doubled our normal expected output, the equivalent to asking the defense to limit the opponent to reduce their expected output by half..... you end up with... wait for it.. 58 points that the offense needs to produce.
So yes, asking the defense to reduce an offense's normal output by about half is as absurd as asking your offense to double its normal expected output.
