There is a good explanation for this
I think A-rod is like kyle Shanahan. Fantastic most of the time when playing ahead or against inferior talent. But when the game is on the line and pressure ramps up (ex. critical moment that the game is hanging on), you can count on him getting too cute/pulling a bonehead play. This leaves our players to have to outplay the other team AND A-rod's handicap.

There is a reason Shanahan will never win a super bowl as long as he is the play caller (already lost 2). Same with A-rod.
