BYU had time for a run or two up the middle at the end of the first half and then a throw to the end zone. Best case scenario you score on one of those two runs, worst case you get stopped on those runs, throw an incompletion on third and kick a field goal. Giving Jake the option to throw a fade there was terrible.
As for the end of game, you attack attack attack all the way down the field and then sit on it 3 straight plays from the 15? Maybe if you have first and goal from the 5 you can consider that strategy but that was too far out to look at burning clock and scoring. The priority was getting the points not burning clock.
