My advice is don't spend time or money on a boot camp.
I am in the computer science field, not directly data analytics. For computer science / programming I know several that did boot camps and some are making it and some not. It's become much harder the past few years for all entry level programmers but especially boot camp grads. My hunch is that it would be even more difficult for a data analytics boot camp grad. There are data analytics and bioinformatics college grads that can't get work directly in those fields, that end up doing general software development. If it's hard for the college grads, the boot camp grads don't have much of a chance.
For traditional software development, I know a guy that's been looking for about 2 years after doing a boot camp. The only job he's been able to get is teaching boot camp, which doesn't pay much. He knows his stuff pretty well and more importantly he has the aptitude for it. This year he decided to complete his college degree while waiting for the economy to improve.
No matter what training one gets, some people can think logically and are detailed and some can't. They don't make good programmers. Is he REALLY good at math? Since it became a popular profession the past 10+ years there are more and more poor programmers. They won't be great at it no matter the training or the AI help. They will often move to management or support (which both can be good careers), or they'll move to another career. If he CAN make a good programmer and wants to pursue it, go for a college degree, make personal connections, and have hobby projects creating stuff for fun. And hopefully the economy improves during that time and then he can land a good job.
