You know, another theory could be that the first goodbye is more of a "I think

I'm done, do you need me to start any new tasks before I pack up and are you satisfied with my progress today?" and the second one is more, "I am actually leaving and I feel like it is polite to say goodbye, plus (maybe) I am trying to be transparent with you about what times I am actually working."
