My family moved across the country while I was on my mission. (Thankfully they

told me LOL) I missed out on a lot including packing up my room and all my stuff, the cross country drive/vacation, and a proper goodbye to friends I grew up with. It kinda sucked at the time but I got over it. I would definitely go to Europe with the rest of your family. Your son will have plenty of options to travel if he wants to.
