Good thoughts as well regarding memory in correct slots if there are 4 slots.
Depending on the manufacture the positions are not necessarily universal either. He could have put them into an A and B slot instead of matching it up A & A.

CPU fan could also be screwed in too tightly or lose, probably best to re set it

Low hanging fruit - Re-seat the ram, unplug and plug the cpu power back in on the motherboard.

That was mine too, and that's what I said. But, he did that.

If its a CPU error, I bet the cpu power (the one closest to the cpu socket) came loose.
