How does this work?
I think the slipping last year was mostly due to the age of the turf
New turf had all summer to establish a good (deep) root system, I suspect it will be fine.

No. They don't cover the field, but there is an elaborate drainage system.

This. The issue last year was due to how bluegrass roots clump over time. You need to replace bluegrass
