would probably be ahead of us given the current standing. That isn't the point of my post.

Lets pretend, hypothetically that our loss to Utah was one week before their loss to Arizona. And then, due to us having better wins throughout the year, eventually we get above Utah. I would want us to be in the conference championship game over them. Head to head should be behind things like over all schedule. But it isn't. It is currently the first thing they look at in ties of conference schedule. This can result in lower ranked teams in the conference championship game. I don't like that.

Lets do another hypothetical, what if Oklahoma State lost every out of conference game (including an FCS opponent), then they win every game during conference play. They are ranked 25th in the country. Boise is ranked 16th in the country. And the Big 12 has two other teams ranked in the teens around Boise. Boise wins their conference championship. OSU gets into the the CCG because they won all conference games.

If OSU loses the conference championship game, then they won't make the playoffs.
If OSU wins, they are still ranked worse than Boise and become the 12th seed instead of the 4th seed.

We don't want OSU in the conference championship game in that scenario. Not if we have two other one-loss teams ranked in the teens. Despite OSU's conference wins, they crapped the bed. OSU should not make it in because either of those other teams would be ranked higher than boise with a win in the conference championship game. So, we want those teams in the conference champ game.

So, regardless of whether you see any specific hypothetical working or not, my point is there are situations where the conference will be in a worse position if they don't put their two highest ranked teams in the conference championship game. So, that should be the first criteria.
