Exactly. I'm sure both guys were first team all-state in HS . . .
The guys going D1 out of high school are the best players in their state/region in high school. They literally DOMINATE the competition in high school with crazy stats.

Out of high school, my son was selected by the coaches as District MVP and was a two-time all-state pitcher. He was literally throwing complete game no hitters from time to time, including the playoffs. Result: He had one D1 offer, 1 D2 offer and 5 JUCO offers. Not trying to brag, but I'm trying to give you a glimpse of what you need to be doing at the high school level to get college looks. Starting on your varsity or even being honorable mention in your high school district in baseball really isn't going to move the needle, in terms of playing at the next level.

Do you know how hard it is to even play baseball at Salt Lake Community College? Some of the very best high school players in Utah are lucky to get an offer to play at SLCC, as well as Utah St.-Eastern in Price.
