always has to be a back-up plan. Diversifying risk goes beyond just financial investments. There are all kinds of situations that can make that employee un available to you. They can quit, car accident, family/child emergency, major medical conditions, they could even get arrested for something completely un work related.
I want to my employees to feel valued, and it will hurt if one of the above things happens. But I will never allow it to get to the point where the lack of 1-2 employees drastically hurts me. But I want them to feel valued because I hope they will return the same and provide excellent service to me.
