A lot depends on company disability. Most places will have an allotted time
FMLA covers 480 hours in a calendar year(roughly 3 months). Depending on the company policy disability could go much longer paid or unpaid. How long and how much they pay you a lot of times depends on tenure. The last 3 corporations I ve worked for provided up to 6 months short tern disabiity. Once people got past the 6 months, generally they would switch them to a long term disability pay and separate employment

Ultimately if he has access to his company handbook or leave guidelines it s generally outlined. If he works for a large company it for sure would be outlined.
