I don't know that there is a right or wrong over it. Sitting out and not helping
your teammates and even coaches because someone else lied to you is not a morally superior position. At the same time when someone says they will pay you to do something and they don't I don't know why you would feel obligated to do that thing.

Honestly from a moral point of view the whole system seems bankrupt. Coaches getting paid millions to coach players and invest their time in getting them better only to see a donor not pay what they said. There is certainly some irony there. Players refusing to play a game they probably love to play with guys they generally like because someone lied and said they pay them to do it and then don't. Donors (the worst of the bunch) who purposely lie in hopes of making their school better at a sport only to be called on those lies. Fans who fit the bill for pretty much all of it who get upset at players who are healthy not playing and coaches not making sure promised payments are kept.
