It’s even more interesting if the Mets win Game 1.
If the Braves win Game 1, they are locked into the 5-seed and a matchup against the Padres regardless of the outcome of Game 2.
But if the Mets win Game 1, they will be the 5-seed (facing the Padres then the Dodgers) if they win Game 2, but will be the 6-seed (facing the Brewers then Phillies) if they lose Game 2. This is because the Mets have the tiebreak over the DBacks but not over the Braves.
IMO that’s all the more reason for the Mets to tank Game 2 (assuming they win Game 1).
