Of course a bunch of his detractors are now begrudgingly giving him a few compliments because he hasn't thrown an interception or fumbled for a couple games and because they can't deny he has played way better than they want to give him credit for (not perfect of course). But you know the second he fumbles or throws an interception at any time in the future they will grab their pitchforks and want Jake benched and Roderick and Sitake fired for recruiting him.

Defenses cause fumbles and get interceptions sometimes and it's going to happen again this year and it might cause BYU to lose a game. And Retzlaff is going to make some mistakes and he is always going to go all out to make plays--with negative results sometimes. The difference between a great play and "he tried too hard and made a bad decision" (not my words) is less than inches and sometimes BYU and Retzlaff will be on the wrong end of it. It doesn't mean that Jake is a horrible quarter back and that the coaching staff should all be fired. But of course, CougarBoard is going to CougarBoard. Some people on CB love to trash the players and coaches they are supposedly fans of.

In the original post in this thread the user was trying to be complimentary of Jake but it was clear to me that he still doesn't like that he is BYU's quarterback and couldn't help him/herself from saying "Retzlaff is who he is and that can be stressful", he will continue to "make a few bad decisions", "I wanted to see Bohannon", and that continuing to have Retzlaff as quarterback "will be wild" and "just as his mistakes will put us in bad spots, the questionable decisions will also create a FEW highlights". Pretty underhanded compliments, if you ask me.
