I think this comment from that reddit thread explains what is going on here: The gap between the left and right is getting bigger, and those who self-identify as moderates are seen as either conservative or liberal because every view not held by those in fringes must belong to the opposite.

KSL is center. To someone who is far right it seems like KSL is insane extreme far left (or left wing insanity as the poster said). That tracks.

Media company owned by the lds church is left wing insanity based lol. It would be more accurate for the poster to say that they think KSL has lost their way by not being conservative enough or something. Saying KSL is left wing insanity is just that, insane.

As for me personally, I was on another sports message board yesterday (utah jazz related) and poster was curious where people landed on the political spectrum and so they posted a quiz that is supposed to determine that. I was designated as Ambivalent Right.
The different categories were Progressive Left, Establishment Liberals, Democratic Mainstays, Outsider Left, Stressed Sideliners, Ambivalent Right, Populist Right, Committed Conservatives, and Faith and Flag Conservatives.
