On no. 2, a lot of running is zone 2 easy running because there really are only three hard days a week.
Typically two workouts and a long run. I would assume BYU follows this same basic structure.

Monday workout, Tuesday easy, Wednesday workout or tempo, th-fr easy, Saturday long run.

Is there a difference between a recovery run and “base mileage” or “easy day”? I don’t really know. Maybe some BYU guys do some super slow mileage occasionally like some Africans reportedly do.
