Unless you go Expedition or Suburban size, your kids aren't going to like the
reality of a mid-size "7 passenger" SUV, which means you won't like it, either. Also, you'll need a rooftop carrier for road trips. There is zero luggage space in a mid-size SUV with the 3rd row up.
There is no mid-size SUV that competes with a minivan in passenger comfort and space.
Shoot, we're down to just two kids and they still would prefer that we'd kept the minivan whenever we're on a road trip.
