I suspect that if Boeing had treated their employees well when things were good
If the machinists felt like Boeing had their backs and compensated them well when times were good, then the employees would have Boeing's back when things were bad. Other unions have made concessions try to keep a company out of bankruptcy.

But since Boeing decided to prioritize profits and shareholder value over its people, now when it needs its people, they aren't going to help.
