For example, Ohio State's total D is 138 yards given up per game... it's a ridiculous stat that isnt going to last going into league play. But they've played FCS teams as well which makes them look better now then they will at say game number 10. Same with BYU playing SIU, Utah playing SUU, etc.

I dont see these data as being definitive by any means, but it does give a fairly comparable baseline to start making assessments from.
