Race was 3 miles and the course is really flat.

My sister ran in the race for USU and said the course was 2.8

Were it a HS race it would be easy to strava stalk it and see what they all measured it at.

Strava results put the men’s race at more like 4.2. Clearly race distance was not a priority.
