Long road trip to a small, remote town, over 7000-ft elevation, hostile crowd,
often cold or windy or stormy conditions. I always worried about that road game when BYU was in the WAC & MWC, even when BYU was clearly the better team. I thought it was the most difficult place to play in the conference, along with maybe Hawaii.
1999 is a good example of what can happen. One-loss BYU went into Laramie in early November as a heavy favorite, ranked in the Top 15, and lost 31-17. The loss drained the life out of the team and they sucked the rest of the season.
