It was mostly fine and has gotten way better since I first made the switch ~12
years ago.

The thing is, I found the one way to ruin everything, haha. I had read years ago that you should never use the built-in upgrade option, but that you should always do a clean install. Last night, I got a notification that I could upgrade. I literally thought, "I bet that the old issues with upgrading have been solved since it has been a known issue so often in the past. I'll go ahead and start the process without making a backup of my local files."

Anyway, the upgrade process took a laptop that was working perfectly and finished with a notification informing me that there had been an error and my system "might" not be usable. Sure enough, networking, mounting usb drives, browsing the file system, and anything else you might want to do on a system that is now totally screwed up and about to get wiped no longer worked.

It is all fine now, but what a waste of a night.
