BYU’s talent level traditionally lends itself towards good, when managed and coached well, but rarely qualifies for great. Even reaching and maintaining that standard is going to require better recruiting than we’ve seen over the last decade plus. Hard to predict significant improvement if we’re going to rank last in big 12 recruiting metrics. 8 wins on a semi-consistent basis in the Big-12 sounds pretty good to me. It seems a reasonable barometer.
That said, while football will require far more investment and a more extensive overhaul, one still doesn’t know what the program can truly accomplish if the all the silos are optimally aligned towards its success.
Basketball is demonstrating that. Perhaps something greater is out there in the ether for football and/or other slorts. The KY era so far almost forces you to question the ceilings of our programs, however well worn and established they may be.
