The drive is about an hour and goes over a steep mountain pass. So, a two hour drive for a 90 minute meeting isn't super appealing. There were many times when I had way too much other things to do but I went anyway. I don't know what most of those meetings were for but I often found answers to questions in my personal and family life while sitting in those meetings....So, worth it.
Having said that, given the current trends in the reduction of meetings, I can not wrap my mind around the need to have an 'all-day' meeting. It just doesn't make sense. I suppose someone might say, "well if folks have to travel that far, we should do as much training as possible." But even that is a stretch.
Also, there's nothing wrong with zoom.
