I've done that and sometimes you don't get stung, and sometimes you do, and I got tired of being stung. But, I generally don't wear a sting proof shirt, but I do wear gloves. My wife wears a head to toe bee suit and almost never gets stung, but I do regularly through the shirt or if they crawl up into my mask. I take way more chances than she does.
