Also, realize that the new dentist may not necessarily be trying to do a bunch of unnecessary work but he may treat spots more aggressively than your old dentist. That's not always a bad thing. Your old dentist knew what your teeth looked like for years, whereas the new guy is seeing you for the first time, and he may not be aware that these spots have been there for years.
