I interview a lot of people. I recently had someone start this answer by saying "I am an engineer by training, and a
humanist by nature". I actually ended up liking her quite a bit, but had to force myself not to either 1. laugh out loud or 2. make a snarky comment after she said that.

When I ask this question, I am expecting the vast majority of the answer to be "Here is how my career journey has made me qualified to do this job". I don't care about their dogs, their favorite vacations, or anything like that. If you have a fun little anecdote that will make you stand out (in a positive way), connect with the interviewer, and only takes 10-20 seconds, that's fine, but the main focus is "Tell me about yourself (being a great person to fill this role)"
