Israeli demonstrations this spring across the country, the 3 elite university presidents' botched congressional testimonies on anti-semitism a few months ago, Utah's mismanagement of the 2 homicide tragedies a couple of years ago, etc. Seems like universities hire their presidents based on number of publications (frequently with obscure publishers), popularity with faculty and students, stockpiling degrees from the "right"schools with little thought to program/project management skills, process discpline, decisiveness (without trying to appease every special interest), financial acumen. And this wasn't the first adminstrative mismanagment of USU athletic matters. You know, typcial executive competencies. I am not an academic. Please correct me if my observations are off base.
