So if I jump into my car and drive around trying to kill people with my car but
am not successful...then I shouldn't face a serious punishment?

Or maybe what you're saying is if I wanted to drive around and try to kill people with my car but first, have a couple of beers to muster up my courage, but am unsuccessful...then maybe I should be let go because I was intoxicated while doing it?

I'm not saying we should put them in jail for life, but our penalties are waaaayy too easy and they allow people to continue to do it. I get it. A lot of people like to drink and a lot of people feel sympathy for a drunk driver because...it could be them.

But, if you're going to go drinking...maybe take an Uber to the bar while you're still sober and thinking rationally rather than waiting to see if you're too drunk to drive after drinking and your decision making is impaired.
