It's just part of cost for people who know how long they will keep car.
My strategy is pretty much to buy after depreciation, drive until it has almost no value. So I don't think much about it.

But if you buy a new car every 3 years (or whatever), the "price" is fairly calculated as initial purchase, maintenance and financing over ownership period, minus resale value. So I get that. That's just understanding how much you are going to spend. And I care how much I spend.
