USA doesn't play away from home enough, the only time they do is Nations League against other CONCACAF nations and even struggle in those. They play every Gold Cup, every Nations League final four and 99% of friendlies on home soil. Two months before the last World Cup, they played two friendlies against Japan and Saudi Arabia at neutral sites in Europe. Japan beat them 2-0 and they played to a 0-0 draw against Saudi Arabia. All these friendlies at home against lesser competition aren't serving a purpose other than to make the guys feel good about themselves and to make money, that's it. The players need to be made uncomfortable and need more away games against quality competition.
