Looking back it was like a family acitivity which was very informal and organic. Everyone would be invilved from cooking, setting the table, clean up. We had family time with everyone without the pressure to do anyting. It also helped us to keep structure during covid as we planned around dinner.
We stopped once we went back to work as we lacked the will to push it every night. My advice to new parents is to develop the habit and keep to it. Its really hard to get kids back into if you stop.
