He swerved because the guy's luggage rack was through his windshield.
I'm not a lawyer or in the insurance business, but I'd be shocked if he got out of the liability on this. He improperly secured his load and caused an accident with financial damages. Seems he's liable for those damages, so far as I understand the facts of the case.

not a reverse. The commercial had applications on a car. Guess that was just Hollywood camera tricks.
