My dad is almost 88 and was born and raised in Colorado Springs. (His dad was the first stake president in Colorado springs.) My dad says the racism was so ingrained in the culture that he didn't even think twice about it when he was a little kid. Just thought that's the way it was supposed to be.
He said one day he asked his mom if they could go to the municipal swimming pool. His mom said, No you can't go today, it's N day at the pool. My dad said, Oh that's right, I forgot what day it is. Can we go tomorrow?
