Look at his transfer record (he actually brought in zero transfers this class). And then look at his typical HS signing classes. All his recruits are solid, but he rarely signs a one-n-done type.

I think Painter has a right to give the explanation he gave the other day to the reporter regarding Kanon. I think it's clear he's into longterm investments when it comes to team-building. And in this era that should be praised. And in fairness, maybe that's why he was hurt by Matt Haarms's departure from Purdue more than by a high-ranked high schooler.

I can hold onto that belief — & still be perfectly fine & grateful for the way things turned out for us with Kanon Catchings.
