I can give credit for Kalani building those teams AND also make the
point that the 2020 & 2021 teams benefited from covid. We had a Sun Belt Conference schedule in 2020 and we caught the PAC12 teams "recovering" from the effects of only having a four-game season the year before.
I'm pointing out that if you remove the covid seasons Kalani's record is 40-37 in six seasons.
After eight seasons we have a clear picture of who Kalani is. He's a mediocre head coach. I make the argument that he's more of a "figurehead" than a head coach. He doesn't actually do anything. Ed Lamb and now Jay Hill are the defacto head coaches.

Yes,many don’t see it that way though. They think it was one of the greatest team seasons in BYU history.
