members (Texas and Oklahoma) who will no longer be conference members in a year.
For this upcoming season, the name is also misleading in that it refers to 12 member schools but there are actually 14 full member schools.
If the conference stays at 12 full members for a while (after the exit of texas and oklahoma drops conference from 14 members back to 12), then the big 12 name can make sense.
If the conference expands soon to except more full or majority members, then ditch the name definitely.
The big 12 name has been around since 1994. Its not a historical name.
