Training information I read says multiple sports effectively cross-trains you
If you don't play other sports you have to specifically incorporate workouts to make up for other areas that your sport doesn't develop. Baseball is probably a bad example, because coaches aren't going to be typically doing very much that helps even from a baseball perspective, outside of arm development drills and throwing (long toss, in particular). So pretty much any other sport would be beneficial to round out your body's needs in baseball. But the same general concept applies for most sports.
