Yep. Especially if they go to 9 conference games - the 9th will be the permanent
cross-divisional game:
BYU-Houston
TCU-Baylor
Texas Tech - UCF
Oklahoma State - West Virginia
Kansas - Iowa State
Kansas State - Cincinnati

This shouldn't be hard on Big 12 realignment. Here it is IMO:

I like it, although Baylor would probably have some issues with it as it groups

Yeah, swap TCU and Iowa St between the divisions
krindorr

This balances out the area of each division the most equitably but
gmj81

Exactly. The idea is to split the 4 Texas schools into each division evenly

I guess that's just not the only concern for me...

You’re still playing 3-4 teams from other division every year depending on whether there’s 8-9 conference games

How do you see rivalries playing out in the new Big 12?

I think it'll be Houston for us. Our recent games have gotten chippy.

Stick Oklahoma in the West and Texas in the East for their last 2 years

I think there's some argument at the margins there, but that's the basic idea

What is your Pods Idea?

Only starts after Texas/Oklahoma leave, but would drive attention and help the conference

Hmm. . . I think I quite like this
Bumpus Hound

You'd play the other teams a ton still though - against non-pod teams 78% of years (about what we play Utah now)

Ok, so how do we get them talking about this? Would be the most compelling

How would you decide who gets the home game in the 9th conf game of season?
Cougblau

It just rotates on a schedule

I really like this, but I do see a potential negative for the conference

Something that isn’t logistical but would be a solution to that is changing the
Slomojoe

That's potentially an issue with any divisional setup, this might actually be better in that regard
krindorr

True. That always exists. This just magnifies that risk a bit. Good point about
thecave

Would be a ton of fun. Plus I think the risk isn't that huge - here's a hypothetical of your scenario
krindorr

I think this should be the new BIG12 logo
IceCreamButt

for personal reasons - I'm hoping BYU and OK state aren't in the same division

About the only logical way to do it really and have a even split of the Texas
gmj81
1/19/22 10:16am
I’d probably lose TCU and add ISU. Otherwise, all the travel is in the other
Colorado
1/19/22 10:17am
The Texas schools need to split evenly in both divisions IMO

Then pull another school into the other division. My point is that split is

Travel in a non-factor in football. I don't think you need divisions outside of football

Boy, B12 needs Colorado State, maybe even New Mexico and Wyoming. ....

No, Boise State as a travel partner....Boise State vs Colorado State in football

Oh yes, would love to see CU or CSU. Wyoming is a non-starter though.

I think Utah, Colorado, and the Arizona schools will be apart of the BigXII

TCU and Baylor have one of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in college football

North South more evenly distributes travel
