We used to live in a house in which we would frequently catch glimpses of movement, shapes or shadows out of the corner of our eyes. We would also often hear movement in an empty upstairs or downstairs while occupying the opposite locations.

We never felt threatened or that there was any kind of evil presence in the house, so we really just kind of got used to it happening and largely ignored it.

For reference, I have experienced the feelings of an evil presence (a couple times on my mission, and another time in this same neighborhood, but not in the house, which is worse, and I may share it later), but suffice it to say, that was not at all felt within our house.

I share the above, to share this...my tween age son was having a B-Day, and we thought that we would ignore it all day, acting as if we had forgotten about it (mean, I know, but fun nonetheless) then have my HCBW, our other kids, some extended family and friends meet me and my son at a restaurant for a B-Day surprise, after his basketball game.

The plan was to arrive at the restaurant and tell my son that he and I were going to wait there in the parking lot for his Mom to arrive with his siblings, then we would all go in together. But in reality, we were waiting for the reservation to be ready and all the guests to arrive, then my HCBW would call me when everything was ready for us to come in for the surprise.

Well, we waited and waited for the call, with a mopey, depressed and hungry son growing increasingly impatient with everything (still makes me chuckle, the surprise was ultimately worth it) when we finally received the call to come in.

But at that point, my HCBW was annoyed, told me that they had all been waiting for us to come in, and she asked me why we hadn't come in the first time that she had called and spoke with me.

Well, I hadn't received a call, no missed or answered calls on my cell phone, but she insisted that she had clearly called and spoken to ME, and that I hadn't said much (she figured because I was with my son), but stated that I had said, "Okay, we're coming".

So it was weird, and after the party, like spouses do, we both wanted to prove to the other that we were right, so we looked at my HCBW's outgoing calls on her cell phone, and sure enough she had made a short call which showed connected to our house line at the time that she stated that she had talked to me!

I obviously wasn't there at the time, nor anyone else. So when we got home, I inspected the perimeter, all locked up, with no signs of breaking or entry, then went in and "cleared" the entire stinking house, prior to the family coming in.

We also checked the caller ID on the home line, which showed an answered call from my HCBW's cell phone for the same time and duration of her cell phone.

For the record, she's perfectly sane, and although I teased her, she finds it very unsettling to this day. And to be honest, so do I.

But we've long since moved away from that location, and thankfully, we haven't experienced anything like that in our current house.
