I'm fine with the Utes developing inter-divisional rivalries with teams like USC and ASU. Realistically, the Pac-12 South goes through those three teams. Utah has a coaching edge on USC, and USC has a pronounced speed and talent advantage. It's a game that the Utes have to get up for every year.
It's starting to be the same thing with ASU—if Utah is going to have a good season, they absolutely have to knock off the Sun Devils.
Neither of those rivalries are even worth mentioning in the same sentence as the Holy War, and Kyle knows it. Comparing USC to ASU isn't a BYU slight. If anything, it's an affirmation of the significance of the BYU game.
