perfectly fine by the Hebrew/Christian god. Leviticus states that slaves can be kept, owned, and inherited. They are considered to be their owner’s property forever. The Bible tells us that the Hebrew god even permits his people to beat their slaves as long as they don’t knock their slave’s eyes or teeth out of their heads.
The Bible also says that women should be “silent in the churches”. According to the Bible it is shameful for a woman to speak or to teach in church. If women desire to learn, they can ask their husbands at home. They are also commanded to keep their heads covered, or have their hair shorn.
Then there is the uncomfortable specter of human sacrifice, and the fact that The God of Israel clearly has no issue with it.
Fortunately, most Jews and Christians justify ignoring all of this. Adding God’s apparent dislike of homosexuality to the laundry list of widely ignored doctrines and declarations contained within the Bible is really no different than anything else people disregard.
