We could join the AAC, go undefeated, and still get left out. Then what?
The only acceptable answer is to join a P5, which isn't an option right now. After that, Independence offers more flexable scheduling and TV deals. If we have a special year and the start align, we could nab one of those two at-large spots. I don't hate the AAC, but just because we join that conference doesn't mean we'll dominate it. It also doesn't mean that will get the auto G5 bid each year. There are plenty of years when Boise State or Northern Illinois or a Coastal Carolina could take it. So how would it be to give up the benefits of independence to join a conference and still not get in?

I vote stay the course and eventually they'll go to 16 or have some play-in crap that will increase our chances even more, and we can still schedule whoever, whenever. We can still sell "Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere", National Schedule", and "ESPN Exposure". And when the next tectonic shift happens with conference realignment, we're still a prime candidate for any P5. When that happens, the Pac12 WILL have a new commissioner who could talk some sense into the presidents and the Big 12 SHOULD have a new commissioner because Bowlsby sucks.

I would join the AAC if we felt like joining would help that conference get P6 status. Then I'd happily jump on that bandwagon.
