Scapegoats. Detmer to an extent, but we love him as a player. Tuiaki - fans
think of him as a Yewt. It is not fair. Whether players or coaches, Yners seem to dog pile on certain ones as though they think that one person is the single reason we are not national champions. And with guts like Detmer, Cahoon, and Doman - fans start out with over the top expectations and then turn on them like a dog to its vomit when they turn out not to be superhuman. Sad.
One former safety from Hawaii was one of those players. I knew him and his family. Great people. Fans blame the safety when they see them chasing after the guy someone else failed to cover.they were brutal to a good player.
There was a wide receiver. Not LDS. Fans were merciless.
Offensive line coach - Weber. Merciless.
Wide receiver coach - Higgins. Merciless.
Broken back Nelson. Shameless.
