I don’t think of it as attendance smack. I just think it’s funny when schools or
teams publicly proclaim that they are “sold out” when clearly their stadiums aren’t close to full. utah is hardly the only one to do this, as other schools lie also. Michigan was probably the most egregious example of this a few years back, until they finally stopped publicly announcing that they had another sellout when huge swathes of empty seats on high-def TV just became too obvious to hide. They never actually said they didn’t sell out, they just stopped talking about it. It was pretty funny to see all the comments when it was happening.
