The issue is that none of those teams would accrue an SOS comparable to the SOS from the AAC champion, and that is a huge component of the committee’s consideration.
Especially if the AAC structured its divisions in such a way that they were balanced competitively and required teams to schedule 1-2 P5 opponents in the OOC.
Again, the best proof of concept is WMU last year: they snuck in only after the AAC and MWC champs had 2-3 losses.
